| Marn
Williams and Susan Isaac
are both glass artists and co-owners of Shards Glass Studio, which
opened in 1998. Here they create fused glassware, cast glass art
pieces and leaded or foiled glass architectural panels that often
include fused and kiln cast, or sculpted glass features. They
draw inspiration from their forested, rural neighbourhood and
the near-by ocean. Susan and Marn were first introduced to glass
fusing in 1997, and since then have been taught the skill by some
of the best glass artists in Canada and the U.S. The fusing and
casting technique allows for new dimensions of texture and depth
not usually seen in traditional windows. Marn's fused glassware
is sought as far afield as Japan and Australia. He also did all
of the stained glass windows in the first Sooke Harbour House
expansion, in 1986. |
