Mia WeinbergSince 1997, Mia Weinberg has created photograms, using actual flowers instead of film negatives in the photographic enlarger. She has chosen cameraless photography to create luminous, ethereal images.
In 2004, Weinberg carried this historical technique over to the digital world resulting in flowers being transformed into dancing, floating, creatures with an inner light. Weinberg’s work has been shown across Canada as well as in France and the United States. She has participated in a number of inter-disciplinary collaborations including a residency at the Banff Centre. In 2004 she was awarded an Earthwatch Artist’s Fellowship to participate in an archeological project in Washington State.
