| Joan
Taylor
survived medical school, the raising of seven children and living
on three continents before being able to concentrate on her art.
With no formal art training, Joan exploits her ignorance of "the
correct way" and just enjoys her own maverick process of discovery
and creation. In the 1986 expansion of Sooke Harbour House, Joan
made the ceramic tiles for the bathrooms, as well as for the Edible
Flower room, the Beach Room and the Underwater Orchard Room. After
exploring a variety of media: watercolour, acrylics and china
painting, Joan found working with fabrics, paint and threads to
be the most fascinating of all creativities. She has exhibited
at several Sooke Fine Arts exhibitions, and participated in group
exhibitions in Australia. |
