| Kim
Nilson
is a self-taught carver whose work incorporates abstract images
with realism. Many intriguing images are portrayed in each piece,
whether it is crafted in wood, soapstone, marble or alabaster.
The material itself influences his work, so that the carving may
evolve from the original concept, invigorating the final presentation
with much more vitality. Kim carves with chisel and mallet, preferring
the quiet intimacy of these tools to noisy power tools. He has
a great respect for nature and wildlife, which is reflected in
his work. Kim has exhibited in both Sooke and Victoria. |
