Julsing
created strong, brooding works, often with a somewhat eerie quality.
He achieved his look with a blend of oil paint and gold; this
blend has become somewhat of a trademark as well as the attenuated
figures he loves to portray. Born in Groningen, Holland during
the German occupation, Will studied art there and in Utrecht.
After his art training, he worked commercially for a time. Then
in 1966, he was one of 20 painters chosen to represent Holland
in an exhibition that toured various European countries. The next
year, he made his home in Canada and has exhibited widely here
and in the U.S. Will passed away in October of 2006 at his Glenora home and studio, just outside of Duncan, B.C |
