is a west coast artist. She lives on Saltspring Island in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia where she has resided since 1955 when her family immigrated from England.
Carol is a realist painter. Her paintings capture a clarity of light and colour that is achieved by building up multiple layers of thin acrylic washes. Her images are finely detailed and reflect an intuitive knowledge of the sea.
Carol has a history of sailing and travelling and although she is well known for her seascapes and sailing images of the west coast, her work has also been inspired by visits to the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia. Wherever she travels, the ocean is her muse and her love for the sea is apparent in her paintings. Whether sailing her classic boat "Korari" around the islands of the inside waters or walking the wild west coast beaches, Carol is absorbing the mood and spirit of the sea and gathering ideas for future paintings.
Since 1992 Carol has held numerous solo exhibitions of her original paintings in Ganges on Saltspring Island. She has also participated in group exhibitions in Ganges, Victoria and Sidney, B.C. Her paintings, silkscreen prints, limited edition prints and giclees can be found in private collections around the world.
