| D.A.Farley
is originally from Quebec, where he grew up around an art tradition
that was somehow folksy, severe, and accomplished, all at the
same time. When he started creating art, (after moving to British
Columbia), he instinctively drew upon those earlier images and
themes to "wake up the muse". The West Coast influence resulted
in works less pressured by tradition and therefore far more relaxed.
Deane feels there is an openness on the West Coast that frees
up old ideas. Currently his work is handled exclusively by Sooke
Harbour House; he has also shown at the Sooke Fine Arts Show and
at the Maltwood Gallery, University of Victoria. |
