| Michel
Des Rochers
is an accomplished artist who has travelled widely, lived abroad
and exhibited extensively. For the past 35 years, he has created
paintings in a variety of media: oils, pastels and watercolours.
Many of these works have been purchased by private collectors,
as well as various municipalities, businesses and museums, such
as the Royal Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. While living
in France, Michel took part in many group exhibitions and also
enjoyed several successful one-man shows. In 1987, Michel returned
to Canada and continued painting, gaining even more extensive
recognition. One of his images, "The Logger", was recently selected
by the Canadian Museum of Civilization as a backdrop in its permanent
West Coast exhibition. Michel and his wife, Marion, own their
own fine art gallery in Sooke. |
